Hey! This is going to be my last post for this blog. I hope everyone who has read it has really liked and enjoyed it. I'm so glad to have finished this book, because it was soooooooo good. As you can probably see, it took me awhile. That was partly from wanting to watch the movie that goes along with the story. Keep on reading, to find out all about it!
One main thing that I noticed throughout the whole story was the way in which it is so different from many other books I've read. To start off, let me give you a short, one-sentence synopsis.
A young, spirited orphan girl is forced to move from town to town in Canada until she arrives at the lovely Prince Edward Island where she becomes known for getting into many scrapes.
Even the movie for Anne of Green Gables is kinda unlike the book. For example, the movie portrays part of her life before she comes to Green Gables in a lot of detail. (I just recently found out that many lines in this part of the movie were completely made up on the spot by the actors!) In the book though, Anne never really goes into detail about her past. Another change is the loss of one of the most important characters in the book, Mrs. Allen. In the novel, she is an important role model who gives Anne lots of great advice. She only appears once in the movie at the very beginning. One last contrast is the so called "trial" in the movie where the Cuthberts (the brother and sister who adopted Anne) have not fully decided whether to keep Anne or not. This somewhat interesting part never takes place in the book. I think that the book and movie are about equally as good, but in many parts the movie is much funnier!☺
All in all, the story and ending was amazing. It really left me hanging and wanting to read the next one in the series. I'm not sure yet if I'll read ALL eight books in the series, though. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a well-written and comical story. See y'all!
